description: | Do mushrooms fascinate or intrigue you? Would you like to learn more about them? With the right conditions, October is the best month to see the widest variety of mushrooms in New York and Inwood Hill Park's forest is one of the best spots in the city to explore this diversity. Join environmental educator and EEAC board member, Brittany DiLeo on a fascinating foray into the world of fungi. We will explore the vital role mushrooms and other decomposers play in the ecosystem, ways that humans depend on and use fungi, and how mushrooms have impacted history. You will learn the basics of mushroom identification, responsible collection, and common species to look for in NYC in all four seasons.
