description: | Ted Steinberg, author of the award-winning book, Gotham Unbound: An Ecological History of Greater New York, will be speaking about the impact the city's growth has had on the natural environment, and discussing the limits of sustainability. Michael D. Sorkin, the award-winning urban planner, will be sharing his recommendations on what the government can and must do to make a greener city, given current demographic and climate forecasts. Nilda Mesa, the Director of Columbia's Earth Institute urban design lab, will be reflecting on her experiences as the Mayor's first Director of Sustainability, and the political challenges involved. Janet Babin, the Economic Development reporter for WNYC, will be moderating. |
