Seminars in Science Education

The National Park Service presents

Seminars in Science Education: Natural Research in the Heart of NYC

Seminars in Science Education:
A series of four learning sessions involving Field Scientists and Master Teachers

Climate change, altered migration patterns, new habitat and bloom cycles, water quality, sea level rise.

Join us for a series of presentations by and conversations with researchers and master teachers to explore the science behind these big issues and make connections to what is happening at the Gateway National Recreation Area sites around Jamaica Bay.

All workshops will meet from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Please note the first three workshops will be at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center; the final workshop at the Ryan Visitor Center at Floyd Bennett Field. Please make reservations at least one week prior to the seminar.

We welcome NYC middle and high school teachers to join us in exploring and discussing all or any of these topics. Sessions are free; materials and lunch will be included. Registration is required: For more information and reservations, contact Dan_Meharg@nps.gov; please put seminars in subject line.
