DECβs mission is βto conserve, improve and protect New Yorkβs natural resources and environment and to prevent, abate and control water, land and air pollution, in order to enhance the health, safety and welfare of the people of the state and their overall economic and social well-being.β
βDECβs goal is to achieve this mission through the simultaneous pursuit of environmental quality, public health, economic prosperity and social well-being, including environmental justice and the empowerment of individuals to participate in environmental decisions that affect their lives.β

Professional Learning Overview
Our team of environmental educators offers free trainings in Project WET, Project WILD, and Project Learning Tree as well as Outdoor Classroom 101 trainings. The trainings are interactive and suitable for students in grades Pre-K through High School. These are offered throughout the year at set locations or can be requested for any group of at least 10 educators in NYC. If you are requesting a workshop, staff can cater it to your specific audience and needs.
